Today we will leave behind the historical region of Valachia and enter the legendary land of Transylvania. We will stop first in Sinaia, known as the “Pearl of the Carpathians” and visit Sinaia Monastery and Peles Castle, the former summer residence of the first King of Romania. The visit here lasts about 45 minutes, enough time to walk along impressive chambers with unique interior design and furniture. The next stop after Sinaia is Bran where we will visit Bran Castle, which became so famous thanks to the legend of Dracula. The next visit is Brasov. DAY 4: BRASOV – PREJMER – RUPEA – VISCRI - SIGHISOARA (168 km)
Today, you will explore Transylvania and the medieval citadels located here. You will first go to Prejmer to see the fortified church built by the Saxons (UNESCO World Heritage) and then to Rupea medieval citadel, recently restored. On our way to Sighisoara, we will stop in Viscri and visit another fortified church (UNESCO World Heritage). In the evening, you will arrive in Sighisoara (listed on UNESCO World Heritage), a charming medieval citadel, the only one in Europe which is still inhabited.

Day 5: SIGHISOARA – TARGU MURES – CLUJ NAPOCA (162 km)
In the morning, you will enjoy a short panoramic tour in the citadel. Here we will visit the Clock Tower (whose mechanism is still functional nowadays), The Evanghelical Church, the Scholars’ Stairs as well as the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler known under the name of Dracula. Lunch in the citadel. You will, then, head to Targu Mures to see
the Medieval Fortress and admire the Palace of Culture. The day will end in Cluj Napoca where you will have dinner and accommodation.
DAY 6: CLUJ NAPOCA – ALBA IULIA – HUNEDOARA (182 km)
Thanks to the active cultural life, Cluj will be the European Capital of Youth in 2015. Today, we will get to know the story of this city and we will see: ST. Michael Catholic Church, the Tailors’ Bastion, Babes Bolyay University, the Orthodox Cathedral, the monument of Matyas Corvinus. We will head, in the afternoon to Alba Iulia, an ancient city with beautiful tourist monuments. Here will visit the Reunification Orthodox Cathedral, the Catholic Cathedral, the most valuable Gothic monument in Transylvania. The last visit here will be the medieval citadel of Alba Iulia Carolina. Drive to Hunedoara for dinner and accommodation.
DAY 7: HUNEDOARA –SEBES – SIBIEL - SIBIU (123 km)
In the morning you will enjoy the visit to the Corvins’ Castle, the most important monument of late Gothic architecture in Transylvania. After this, you will head to Sibiu and stop first at Sebes to see the old Evenghelical Church dating from the XIIIth century. The way to Sibiu will delight your eyes thanks to the picturesque landscape and the large number of axon villages that you will be driven through. We will also stop in Sibiel, a lovely village where you will enjoy a Romanian traditional lunch before going to Sibiu. Dinner and accommodation in Sibiu.
DAY 8: SIBIU
Sibiu and its surroundings are the most visited areas in Romania with the best preserved old historical center. Here we will visit the Small Square with its popular Liars’ Bridge, the Large Square with the Catholic Cathedral, Brukenthal Museum, The Council Tower, the Evanghelical Cathedral, the Orthodox Cathedral and the fortification walls surrounding the old city center. In the last part of the day, you will have free time. Dinner and accommodation in Sibiu.
Day 9: SIBIU – BUCHAREST (275 km)
Today we will return to Bucharest. We will drive along the charming Olt river Valley and stop at Cozia Monastery and then at Horezu monastic complex (UNESCO World Heritage). Here you will visit the well preserved churches and the admire the colorful pottery (visit the showroom with sale). Curtea de Arges Monastery is the last stop during the trip, famous thanks to both beauty of the construction and the legend connected to it. Here, there are also the tombs of the first two couples of Romanian kings and queens (Carol Ist, Elisabeth, Ferdinand and Maria). Dinner and overnight in Bucharest.

In this region we will visit 2 wooden churches: Bogdan Voda and Rozavlea Church, both impressive through their architectural characteristics. The next stop is in Barsana (UNESCO World Heritage). DAY 7: BARSANA – BAIA MARE (150 km)
Today, we will visit the popular Happy Cementery of Sapanta. This one became so famous thanks to the wooden carved croisses and the pictures painted on them representing the life of those who passed away. Even more interesting are the versified epitaphs composed by the Stan Ioan Patras, the craftsman of these crosses. We will head then, to Desesti village to visit the wooden church here (part of UNESCO World Heritage). Before getting to Baia Mare, we will visit other two churches in Harnicesti and Sugatag villages. Dinner and accommodation in Baia Mare.
DAY 8: BAIA MARE – CLUJ NAPOCA (149 km)
The most important mining centers of Maramures County are situated in the area surrounding Baia Mare. This region is well known not only for its underground riches, but also for its the beautiful scenery. In Baia Mare we will visit the Mineralogy Museum with unique and interesting minerals. In the morning, we will leave Iasi and prepare to enter the legendary land of Transylvania. You will, also, discover the beauty of the Carpathian Mountains thanks to the breathtaking landscape of Bicaz Gorge, one of the most impressive monuments of nature. We continue our journey all the way to Transylvania and reach Praid in the evening.
