Carl Reh Winery, branch of the German company Reh Kendermann, owns vineyards in one of the best Romanian wine-growing areas: Oprisor, Mehedinti County. The winemaking procedures' purpose is to put forward the whole potential of the area, by using the Romanian and international winemakers' experience and also by the investments done in newest technologies. By this way, high quality wines are obtained fit to the modern consumer. The company's flagship range, La Cetate, consists of limited wines series, a result of a rigorous selection of the best grapes obtained at Oprisor, and perfectly illustrates the generous microclimate in which the vineyard is placed. The whole range is a high-end one, distinguished by the flavours' profoundness and complexity, and the wines bottled under this brand are constantly awarded by international juries. Merlot La Cetate is only one example of the Carl Reh Winery's winemaking style: powerful, with an intense flavour of plums and American oak, on which fine vanilla nuances overlaps. It awarded the Silver medal in 2003, at The International Contest from Paris, and Bronze, at The Contests from San Francisco and London, in 2003, too.  Cabernet Sauvignon La Cetate, with a vigorous texture and obvious oak and berries fragrances -well ripped black currants - is also one of the representative wines for the full potential in Oprisor area. The successfully story of Pinot Noir La Cetate started in 2002, in Bucharest, at NOVVIN Contest, when it awarded the Silver. A friendly wine, with delicate raspberry, strawberry, leather and wild mushrooms aroma, which wins over you by its balance and temper. Feteasca Neagra La Cetate was one of the most expected wines produced by Carl Reh Winery. A result of a serial successive tough selection of the grapes, this Feteasca Neagra proved the real potential of the variety: a vigorous body, a daring plum flavour and a taste totally confirming the first nose impression, completed by comforting nuances of vanilla, cocoa and raisin. It is a wine obtained only in years when the grapes are exceptional. |
