TRANSGAZ SA takes forward the gas transmission tradition on the Romanian territory, as a descendant of the first company specialized in European gas transmission: the first Transylvanian Company for soil gas carrying, founded 95 years ago (1912) in Turda.                  Currently, TRANSGAZ SA operates under its deed of establishment (updated form), registered in the Commerce Registration Office within the Law Court of Sibiu.                     Following the Initial Public Offering that took place in the year 2007, the TRANSGAZ shareholding structure is: the Ministry of Economy and Finance 75%, the Ownership Fund (“S.C. Fondul Proprietatea S.A.”) 15% and other shareholders - legal and natural persons 10%. Main activities:     "TRANSGAZ"S.A. aims at the achievement of the national strategy on:                     -    Natural gas transmission through the National Transmission System,                  -    International gas transit;                  -    Gas dispatching;                 -    Research  design in the field of natural gas transmission. In support of its main object of activity "TRANSGAZ" S.A. may complementary perform other related activities, as per the legislation in effect and its own By-laws. The components of National Transmission System:             -    12,258 km of main transmission pipelines and gas supply joints of which over 560 km of international gas transit pipelines, 1000 and 1200 mm diameter;             -    29 valve and/or technological node control stations;             -    6 gas compressor stations located on the pipeline route;             -    1,021 meters and metering devices for natural gas amounts used in business transactions;             -    939 gas metering, regulating and delivery stations;             -    2 import gas metering stations;             -    857 cathodic protection stations for gas transmission pipelines;             -    575 gas odorisation equipment.
